Amethyst is connected to the Tarot card Temperance meaning balance. The Philosopher Ovid said that Amethyst was a Nymph pursued by Bacchus. Wanting to escape him she sought help fom Goddess Diana, who came to her rescue by transforming her into a beautiful crystal stone.
